Punking Spice Dahlia tubers produce striking 6-inch informal decorative blooms in warm orange tones, accented with variable raspberry, gold, and red undertones that create visual depth. Plants reach approximately 4 feet in height, making them excellent focal points for mid-border placement or cutting gardens. This variety demonstrates consistent vigor and reliable flowering throughout the season. Plant in full sun with well-draining soil and provide support stakes as plants mature for optimal bloom production and plant structure.
How To Plant Dahlias
To get your dahlias started, pick a sunny spot with soil that drains well. Dig a hole, lay the tuber flat, and cover it with soil about 3 inches deep. Hold off on watering for now. Once you spot some sprouts and a few leaves, it’s time to water, but keep it gentle to prevent root rot. It’s a smart to put the stake next to the tuber at the same time of planting, so you don’t accidentally damage it later on.
As the season goes on, give your dahlias some love with fertilizer and insect sprays to help them bloom beautifully and grow strong. In the fall, dig up the roots and store them over winter.
