About Us

Our garden is situated in Purcellville, Loudoun County, Northern Virginia. Since 2005, we have dedicated ourselves to cultivating dahlias. As members of the National Capital Dahlia Society, we take pride in our expertise in this field.

Dahlias hold a special place in our hearts due to their extended blooming period and their presence during the season when other flowers cease to bloom. We meticulously handcraft every aspect of our dahlia cultivation process, ensuring that no technical machinery is employed. Upon extracting the dahlia roots, we conduct a thorough examination to ascertain their disease-free status. Subsequently, we implement rigorous disinfection protocols for all tools after each cut. These roots are then carefully stored over the winter months, with utmost attention to prevent rot.

My passion for gardening has been nurtured since childhood, when we cultivated a diverse array of vegetables, berries, flowers, and fruit trees. Throughout my life, I have resided in various locations, each of which has provided an opportunity to cultivate different flowers and vegetables. Currently, we are engaged in the cultivation of a wide range of perennial and annual flowers, vegetables, berries, grapes, and fruit trees. To enhance pollination, we have strategically placed  honeybees and 15 birdhouses within our garden, ensuring that these avian visitors can access a variety of insects from our ecosystem.

While my husband may not have possessed extensive knowledge of gardening, his willingness to assist me has facilitated his learning journey. He now fully appreciates the intricacies of cultivating a thriving garden. Furthermore, we actively contribute to the community by donating our fresh flowers to various events held in Loudoun County, thereby supporting initiatives aimed at alleviating hunger and Women Abuse Shelter.

We’re still deeply missing our dear daughter, Anna. She passed away in October 2023 from cancer at the age of 36. She bravely battled cancer for six years. Since her diagnosis, because our garden was filled with flowers from March to November, we brought her joy with peonies, roses, lilies, and dahlias. At her passing, we had an abundance of dahlias for her, and she was surrounded by them. Now, my dahlias are a tribute to my daughter Anna, as it was in October. I know that many of you have lost loved ones, and my heart goes out to you all. I understand how incredibly painful it is to lose someone dear to your heart.

With love to all of you!
