Polka Dahlia produces stunning 6-inch anemone-form blooms with white and pink petals surrounding a cheerful yellow center. This vigorous variety reaches 4 feet tall, making it an excellent choice for mid-to-back garden borders and cut flower arrangements. The unique color combination and full bloom size create dramatic visual impact throughout the growing season.
How To Plant Dahlias
To get your dahlias started, pick a sunny spot with soil that drains well. Dig a hole, lay the tuber flat, and cover it with soil about 3 inches deep. Hold off on watering for now. Once you spot some sprouts and a few leaves, it’s time to water, but keep it gentle to prevent root rot. It’s a smart to put the stake next to the tuber at the same time of planting, so you don’t accidentally damage it later on.
As the season goes on, give your dahlias some love with fertilizer and insect sprays to help them bloom beautifully and grow strong. In the fall, dig up the roots and store them over winter.
