Mt. Hood dahlias produce pristine 5-inch white blossoms ideal for cutting arrangements. These formal decorative varieties reach 4 feet in height, offering substantial stems perfect for floral design. The pure white petals and structured form make them excellent choices for weddings, events, and fresh bouquets. Plant in full sun for optimal blooming throughout the season.
How To Plant Dahlias
To get your dahlias started, pick a sunny spot with soil that drains well. Dig a hole, lay the tuber flat, and cover it with soil about 3 inches deep. Hold off on watering for now. Once you spot some sprouts and a few leaves, it’s time to water, but keep it gentle to prevent root rot. It’s a smart to put the stake next to the tuber at the same time of planting, so you don’t accidentally damage it later on.
As the season goes on, give your dahlias some love with fertilizer and insect sprays to help them bloom beautifully and grow strong. In the fall, dig up the roots and store them over winter.
