Einstein Dahlia produces striking 6-inch purple blooms on vigorous plants reaching 5 feet tall. This formal decorative (FD) variety delivers substantial, fully-petaled flowers ideal for cutting and garden display. Plant tubers in spring after frost danger passes, spacing 2-3 feet apart in full sun with well-draining soil. Stake or support tall stems as they develop. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continuous flowering throughout the season. Excellent choice for florists and dahlia enthusiasts seeking dramatic color and reliable performance.
How To Plant Dahlias
To get your dahlias started, pick a sunny spot with soil that drains well. Dig a hole, lay the tuber flat, and cover it with soil about 3 inches deep. Hold off on watering for now. Once you spot some sprouts and a few leaves, it’s time to water, but keep it gentle to prevent root rot. It’s a smart to put the stake next to the tuber at the same time of planting, so you don’t accidentally damage it later on.
As the season goes on, give your dahlias some love with fertilizer and insect sprays to help them bloom beautifully and grow strong. In the fall, dig up the roots and store them over winter.
