Discover the captivating Painted Madam Dahlia, a formal decorative variety that celebrates nature's artistry. Each 6" bloom is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, featuring golden yellow to scarlet red petals adorned with hand-painted streaks of contrasting color. No two flowers are identical—some emerge solid red or yellow, others display striking half-and-half patterns, while many surprise with unexpected color combinations. This tall-growing cultivar reaches 4 feet, making it an impressive garden focal point that delivers consistent, show-stopping blooms throughout the season.
How To Plant Dahlias
To get your dahlias started, pick a sunny spot with soil that drains well. Dig a hole, lay the tuber flat, and cover it with soil about 3 inches deep. Hold off on watering for now. Once you spot some sprouts and a few leaves, it’s time to water, but keep it gentle to prevent root rot. It’s a smart to put the stake next to the tuber at the same time of planting, so you don’t accidentally damage it later on.
As the season goes on, give your dahlias some love with fertilizer and insect sprays to help them bloom beautifully and grow strong. In the fall, dig up the roots and store them over winter.
